Job Summary
The Injury Prevention Specialist will evaluate injuries, physical conditions, and needs; recommending a research based care plan to include schedule, treatment programs, and related education based on their capabilities and limitations.
In addition to these duties they will also coordinate, perform, and carry out Occupational Medicine (OccMed) Rehab and Clinic programs. These services include, but are not limited to job function tests, ergonomic assessment, functional capacity evaluations, job site analysis, drug screening, breath alcohol screening, audio screening, phlebotomy, and other routine testing. This role ensures the health, comfort and safety of patients and clients. Documents and interprets appropriate information gathered from a variety of sources, including the patient, medical record, physician, and family. Utilize appropriate rehab and clinical testing/evaluation techniques to assess injuries and other clinical needs. Contributes to the assessment of patients and administers treatments and screening as ordered.
Counsels patients and family members on prevention and treatment plans as directed. Explains and updates safety rules governing daily training, recreational activities, and the use of professional exercise equipment as needed for patient care. Implements and monitors any patient treatment regimen for rehabilitation and reconditioning according to diagnosis and real-time condition.
Demonstrates competency and practices within the full scope of certification expertise/knowledge and utilizes appropriate age and population specific standards as designated in their assigned clinical setting.
Qualifications
Appropriate education level required in accordance with state licensure.
Minimum of two years’ experience preferred in occupational health.
Must be certified as an Athletic Trainer by the Board of Certification and be licensed and/or registered in state(s) of practice and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges as required by position.
Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers required or within the first 60 days of employment.
