Department Details
The priority of the major gifts officer is to build relationships that inspire philanthropic investments to support Sanford Health in the Bismarck region (central and western ND). This individual will manage a group of assigned donors, assuring that as many as possible are retained as continuing donors to the organization and are upgraded in their giving and involvement.
Hours worked per week may vary and some travel is expected. A major gift officer is most successful when flexible to the donor's needs with a majority of the time is spent out of the office. Additionally, attendance at Sanford Health Foundation special events as well as community based opportunities for networking are required.

Job Summary
Carries out a variety of healthcare development opportunities for Sanford and holds a leadership role in the Sanford Foundation. Key responsibilities in development administration, donor recognition, annual fund, major gift and special event coordination. Responsibilities include writing for donor communication, making personal contacts with and soliciting gifts from corporate donors and prospects, leading specific fundraising campaigns, and collaborating with support team. Has an entrepreneurial spirit to identify and implement development opportunities as well as self-initiating skills and desires. Possess strong written, verbal and listening communication skills. Knowledgeable of development strategies and skills pertinent to making personal solicitations. Well organized with the ability to work well with interruptions and stress. Possesses flexibility and adaptability skills, which help to accommodate changing situations and workloads. Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects to completion and possess a strong sense of customer service. Manages a diverse portfolio by building strong relationships with key community members and current patients who are grateful for the care they've received.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree is required.
Familiarity with marketing principles as they apply to fundraising.
Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) certification designation preferred.
