Department Details

Sanford Laboratories is looking for a 0.5 FTE staff member to assist with daily reference lab billing responsibilities including payment posting and distribution, account maintenance, communications with our partner collections agencies and processing bankruptcy notifications and proceedings. This position works with patients, reference laboratory clients and other Sanford Laboratories billing affiliates to ensure accurate and timely billing and payment for laboratory testing. Schedule is Monday-Friday and hours are flexible between 7:00AM and 5:00PM.

Job Summary

The Business Office Coordinator manages and coordinates all functions of accounting, including accounts receivable, collections, bankruptcy and money reconciliation. Manages accounts including payments, billing, claim submission and follow-up. Provides support for payment posting and distribution to accounts. Communicates with collections agencies and prepares documentation for management review. Works with notifications and documentation of bankruptcy proceedings. Handles reporting and documentation for department quality and safety measures. May assist with other departmental projects as necessary.

Must possess strong communication skills, be detailed orientated and work well with fellow peers. Must have computer experience. Professional manner required. Works under limited supervision. Must be well versed on electronic billing.

Qualifications

Associate's degree in a health care or business related field required. In lieu of degree, three years applicable experience may be accepted.

Minimum of three years of applicable experience preferred. Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred. Three years' experience in a leadership role preferred.

Must be knowledgeable of the billing requirements of third party payers. Basic understanding of medical terminology as well as ICD-9, CPT coding, and good working knowledge of general business procedures, accounting principles, and computer programs required.
