Job Summary

The Director Laboratory Support Services lead Sanford Laboratories service departments supporting pathology and clinical laboratory diagnostics. Departments include but not limited to client services, technical support, and accounts receivable. Directly responsible for strategic development, integration, and continued operations across multiple locations. The Director will partner with enterprise and market laboratory leaders establishing an integrated support department model serving 100+ Sanford Laboratories locations across the upper midwest. Customers include Sanford providers and external reference laboratory clients. Frequently interact with customers responding to requests, understanding complex challenges, and finding prompt resolutions. Collaborate closely with laboratory operations, sales, technical (pathologists and scientists), logistics and other departments to achieve goals.

Directly responsible for but not limited to client services, technical support, and accounts receivable departments including budgeting, budget adherence and personnel management. Responsible for understanding market dynamics, leading integrated teams to identify ideal state/barriers, communicating vision, and implementing best practice focused on patient and provider experience.

Develop laboratory support service policies, processes, procedures, and training. Establish customer support metrics and responsible for continuous improvement and external benchmarking. Performance metrics are reviewed with respective departments frequently and improvement plans implemented if necessary. Must be able to clearly communicate metrics and plans for improvement.

Must be an accomplished leader in developing organizations and mentoring others, as well as successful in developing diverse high-performance teams. Ability to formulate strategy in alignment with service line vision, effectively communicate across diverse audiences, and drive change respectfully within Sanford Health Values.


Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Finance, Engineering, Science, or related discipline; Master’s Degree preferred.

Minimum of seven years experience in leadership. Experience in healthcare and/or call center preferred.
