Department Details

The Radiation Therapy Manager leads the department in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care while fostering a positive, empowering culture that inspires therapists at all levels to drive change and achieve excellence. This role is responsible for maintaining accreditation and regulatory compliance, collaborating with other Enterprise sites to standardize practices and maximize efficiencies, and ensuring a supportive environment where staff are engaged, motivated, and equipped to grow as leaders. The manager sets the tone for organizational culture, promotes teamwork, and aligns departmental goals with the broader mission of Sanford Health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and cultivates a positive, inclusive work culture that empowers employees at all levels to inspire change and pursue excellence

  • Maintain accreditation and ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies, including HIPAA, and monitor adherence to institutional, state, and federal standards.

  • Collaborate with other Enterprise sites to develop and implement standardized operational protocols and maximize staffing and operational efficiencies.

  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate staff, including interviewing, onboarding, counseling, discipline, and conflict resolution, ensuring the department’s supervisory needs are met.

  • Foster a team-oriented environment, encouraging collaboration, mutual respect, and open communication among staff and interdisciplinary partners.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in treatment delivery, patient and staff safety, documentation, and management of patient records.

  • Lead by example in service recovery and patient satisfaction, demonstrating sensitivity and responsiveness to patient needs.

  • Build strong relationships with staff and interdisciplinary teams, promoting trust, engagement, and professional development.

  • Encourage lifelong learning, professional growth, and innovation through ongoing education, training, and participation in quality improvement initiatives.

  • Support leadership with budget preparation, resource allocation, and compliance with regulatory and financial requirements.

  • Monitor and address the growth and development needs of all client populations served by the department.

  • Recognize and celebrate individual and team achievements, fostering a culture of appreciation and continuous improvement.

Job Summary

Responsible for the daily operation of treatment delivery. Participates in patient care, treatment, and other duties performed by the radiation therapists and other staff. As a part of quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC), collaborates with physics staff to maintain QA/QC with the equipment and the procedures performed within the department and to maintain accreditation and ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies. Collaborates with other Sanford Radiation Therapy sites to develop and implement system rational standards and to maximize operational and staffing efficiencies. Possesses the skills and knowledge necessary to meet the supervisory needs of the department, including but not limited to interviewing, counseling, discipline, and conflict resolution with staff. Proficient in skills related to treatment delivery, safety of patient and staff, and documentation of patient care and management of patient records. Available to complete service recovery for patient satisfaction and sensitivity. Monitors and practices patient confidentiality at all times with adherence to all HIPAA compliance standards. Ability to work with growth and development needs of all client populations. Builds relationships with staff and other members of the interdisciplinary team. Ability to assist leadership with budget issues and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Bachelors of Science degree in Radiation Sciences is preferred. Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology is required.

Minimum of five years’ experience as a Radiation Therapist.

Certification and membership with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and fulfills all biennial continuing education requirements. For professional growth, American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) is preferred.
