The position is full-time, Monday-Friday

Weekend call is assigned to a Radiation Therapists on call per weekend once orientation time frame is over.

Call pay and automatic overtime for hours worked on call.

Typically prefer to staff 3 therapists per machine.

The Radiation Therapist will work with: 4 Physicians, 10 Radiation Therapists, 4 Dosimetrists, 4 Physicists, and 4 nurses!

Job Summary

Performs daily imaging and delivers daily prescribed therapeutic radiation doses to radiation therapy patients safely and accurately. Sanford Health is seeking a Radiation Therapist to join our team in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The successful candidate will utilize their strong communication skills and specialized radiotherapy knowledge to provide compassionate patient-centered care in an open and communicative Radiation Oncology team. Software includes Varian Aria V16 (moving to Aria V18.1 summer of 2025) and Epic as permanent EMR.

Equipment includes two main treatment vaults with TrueBeams (one standard MLC and one High Def MLC). Both TrueBeams have 6 dof couches and VisionRT surface guidance to support our active stereotactic and breath-hold programs. A third linear accelerator will be installed in the fall of 2025. Sun Nuclear software products and equipment are used for daily QA and a GE Optima CT is used for CT simulation.

The therapist incorporates their technical knowledge of the equipment and expertise of clinical treatment set-up, anatomical landmarks, treatment recording and management during patient care. The therapist must be able to interact effectively and accurately with patients and their family members, physicians, healthcare workers, and radiation oncology department personnel. Possesses the skills and knowledge necessary to be proficient in accurate delivery of prescribed doses of radiation, safety of patient during treatment, and documentation of patient care in the patient treatment record and inpatient chart (if applicable). A patient's sensitivity and confidentiality must be practiced at all times with adherence all HIPAA compliance standards. The therapist develops an understanding of the patient's physical and emotional status and reports that to the appropriate staff. Ability to work with growth and development needs of all client populations.

Qualifications

Completion of radiation therapy course from an approved school or accredited program.

Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required. If working in North Dakota and performing medical imaging or radiation therapy procedures, licensure through the North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (NDMIRT) Board of Examiners is required.
