- The Mission Integration department seeks to express and embody God’s love for all people regardless of race, gender identity, sexual orientation, physical ability, or any other trait. Assists in supporting and directing the organization’s spiritual program and provide spiritual guidance to residents, clients, patients and employees. Participates in strategic visioning for the organization's future involving the area of spiritual wellbeing and spiritual ministry resources. Supports, affirms and collaborates with others in the on-going development, sustainability and action of living out the organization's mission, vision and values.
Assists employees in witnessing and providing spiritual support to the residents, patients, clients and their families. Provides additional support and training for administrators as spiritual leaders, spiritual care staff and chaplains. Supports and coordinates organized spiritual care programs and provides spiritual ministry resources for locations and service lines. Prepares and leads staff in-service programs.
Coordinates and facilitates spiritual care retreats or workshops for the organization personnel that are inspirational and provide training for positive spiritual leadership. Regularly leads devotions, and bible studies, worship services, including the administration of sacraments.
Expands the use of online resources for seniors and those who care for them. Writes articles for publication and develop learning resources as needed.
Supports the chaplains for the other locations. Assists with the hiring of chaplains. Oversees the process of ensuring chaplains are appropriately ordained or qualified when non-ordained prior to being hired alongside assisting the hiring location to understand the correct processes. Provides chaplain training across the organization.
Prays regularly for the organization, its leaders and the people being served. Displays high emotional intelligence by harnessing own emotions and exhibiting mindfulness and respectfulness to everyone. Proves oneself to be true and authentic to one's own faith and religious philosophy, experience and practices while also respecting and valuing other faiths of the world.
Follows the Association of Professional Chaplains Code of Professional Ethics. Addresses any spiritual care referrals and consults in a timely manner. Follows, supports and encourages the following of spiritual ministries policies and procedures in all locations. Demonstrates critical thinking skills under adverse situations in order to respond appropriately to residents, patients, clients, families and employees. Possesses awareness of personal biases and demonstrates the ability to set them aside while at work. Possesses ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships. Exhibits initiative with events. Provides leadership qualities when necessary. Participates in staff meetings as scheduled. Depending on the need, may be required to serve on call as assigned.
Graduate of an accredited School of Theology with the Association of Theological Schools (seminary or equivalent) with a Master of Divinity or a Master of Theology degree or above required. Master of Arts degree is sufficient.
Completion of one or two units of Clinical Pastoral Education or being certified or credentialed as a chaplain, along with being endorsed or affirmed for this ministry by denomination is required.
One Unit = 400 hours, 300 clinical ministry, 100 group experience under supervision of certified supervisor of CPE program.
Minimum five years of experience as a Christian pastor, deacon, or professional minister. Specialized ministry training or experience in the field of long-term care and work with senior living is preferred.
Must be an active member in good standing of a Christian denomination per Good Samaritan Society’s "A Description of Being Christian in the Lutheran Tradition.”
Required to be ordained, licensed or commissioned to function in a religious vocation by an appropriate religious authority. Must provide written verification of ordination, licensed or commissioned status prior to being hired.
Current valid driver’s license, and must meet all medical guidelines for Sanford Health Category III drivers.
