Stacy Nelson

Career Development Consultant (BS, M.Ed.)

Stacy Nelson is a Career Development Consultant based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Raised in southeastern South Dakota near the family farm and then in a small town, she developed a strong appreciation for education and community early in life. Stacy earned her degree in biology and education from South Dakota State University, where she also competed on the track team.

Raised by parents who were educators, Stacy began her career as a science teacher and track coach at Roosevelt High School in Sioux Falls. There, she taught Accelerated Chemistry and coached the throwers in track and field. During this time, she earned a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Sioux Falls. Building on her classroom experience, Stacy later joined the Career and Technical Education Academy, where she taught medical science courses. She introduced hands-on projects and real-world applications to help students develop knowledge and skills, empowering them to pursue their passions with confidence.

In her current role, Stacy is passionate about connecting students with career opportunities and resources within Sanford and the broader community. She strives to empower young people to achieve their goals and prepare for fulfilling futures.

Outside of work, Stacy enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, traveling, attending her kids’ activities, watching sporting events, visiting the Black Hills, and lifelong learning. She enjoys hearing from former students and celebrating their accomplishments.

From her rural roots to decades of teaching in Sioux Falls, Stacy values the role all communities play in shaping young people’s futures. She is grateful to work at Sanford and is committed to providing meaningful opportunities for students.
