Department Details

Solutions by Sanford is seeking a NP or PA for locum opportunities in the SW Minnesota area (Tracy, Westbrook, Worthington) for coverage in clinic and ED. Shifts vary and may include 12 hour shifts or coverage from Friday at 5:00pm – Monday at 7:00am.

Sanford will provide a provider services agreement to include compensation and paid malpractice insurance including tail coverage.

In addition, Sanford will cover license and DEA, travel, and lodging.

Job Summary

As a Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) opportunities may include healthcare services within Clinic and ED. Acknowledges and demonstrates the importance of care coordination and navigation by rounding on patients. Applies skills, knowledge, and talents on initiatives that affect patient care. Provides patients with information needed to promote health, reduce risk factors, or prevent disease or disability. Counsels' patients and family members about self-management on prevention and treatment plan for health issues, tailoring instructions to patients' individual circumstances. Incorporates evidence based practice guidelines into care.

Maintains current knowledge of state legal regulations for advanced practice provider practices, including reimbursement of services. Keeps abreast of regulatory processes and payer systems such as Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, and private sources, as applicable. Demonstrates extensive advanced knowledge of medical principles, practices and techniques.

Qualifications

Possess one of the following education requirements based on licensure for Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) or Physician Assistant (PA):

  • Completion of a master’s, postmaster’s, or doctorate from an nurse practitioner program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education or National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission. Licensing prior to August 1, 1995 in ND, master's degree in nursing is preferred.

  • Master’s or Baccalaureate degree (Associate’s or Nursing Degree if training prior to 1994). Successful completion of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or its predecessors.

Experience in one of the following based on licensure for CNP or PA, experience must correlate to the privileges requested:

  • Demonstrated current competence and provision of care, treatment, or services for an adequate volume of patients in the past twelve months.

  • Completion of master’s/post-master’s degree program in the past twelve months.

  • Completion of an ARC-PA approved program in the past twelve months.

Licensure requirements are based on CNP or PA credentials outlined below:

  • Current licensure by the applicable state board of nursing for advanced practice or physician assistant. Current certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center or an equivalent nationally recognized body. Submit current Scope of Practice that has been approved by either the North Dakota State Board of Nursing or the Minnesota Board of Nursing.

  • Successful completion of the national certifying examination and current certification given by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
