Schedule:

· 8-hour day shifts Monday-Friday between 7:30am-5:00pm

· Every 5th weekend rotation at the walk-in clinic and 1-2 holidays/year

· No phlebotomy experience or certification required

Duties include:

· Prepping & performing phlebotomy on children up to elderly patients

· Preparing samples for pickup

· Maintain appropriate supplies inventory

· Charting blood draws

Job Summary

Obtain laboratory specimens for processing and perform other testing in a professional manner from hospital, clinic and nursing home patients to ensure quality results in accordance with regulatory and accreditation standards. Collects and manages samples of blood and specimens from patients; ensures patient safety during the sample collection process. Records and documents patient information accurately. Follows all standard procedures and safety regulations; deploys asepsis techniques during phlebotomy procedures. Communicates with patients, collecting their health information and answering their questions regarding phlebotomy procedures.

Qualifications

High school diploma or General Educational Development Diploma (GED) required.

Previous work experience in a medical setting is beneficial. Basic knowledge of human anatomy and medical terminology.

Completion of a formal phlebotomy program, phlebotomy experience, and experience in a laboratory-related field preferred. May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
